Offering new parents a premium selection of European baby foods, including jars, pouches, cereals, and snacks from esteemed brands like HiPP and Holle.
Loved by parents and little ones alike, HiPP is known for seamlessly blending breast milk science and high-quality ingredients to create advanced formulas one step closer to nature's example. For more than 125 years, they've expertly crafted European formulas have helped babies thrive.
HiPP baby formula comes in a variety of country versions, including German, Dutch, and UK, with options based on cow or goat milk as well as specialty formulas, including Comfort, Anti-Reflux (AR), and Hypoallergenic (HA). Most ranges are staged by age in order to best meet your little one's nutritional needs as they continue to grow and develop.
HiPP European formula is made with the purest ingredients possible. From farm to formula, they closely monitor their entire production process, keeping track of where every ingredient is sourced, how it is processed, and finally how it's packed to ensure careful handling at all times. This emphasis on traceability allows them to maintain their extremely strict quality standards.
Most HiPP products, with the exception of their speciality formula and Kindermilch, are certified EU Organic and hold the brand's very own HiPP Organic Seal that exceeds the minimum standards of EU-regulated organic production, reflecting their commitment to offering parents the utmost organic integrity.
When you choose HiPP organic formula, you're choosing a milk made without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, from free-range animals that have access to graze and that are not treated with routine antibiotics or growth hormones. Instead, their animals are well cared for and only receive organic feed. These diligent practices ensure a virtually residue-free formula for your baby.
Organic certification is a clear indication of quality and purity. Many parents turn to HiPP organic formula because they appreciate the stringent controls that organic products are subjected to. While EU organic certification is in itself widely regarded as having some of the highest standards, with the HiPP organic seal, the brand has made a personal promise to do even more. With that said, you can count on clean, GMO-free ingredients in all formulas from them, whether they are organic or not!
If being Germany's number one formula brand is not enough of a testament to their outstanding quality of nutrition, we have compiled a list of features and benefits demonstrating this brand's excellence.
Developed to be as close to breast milk as possible - Most HiPP formula includes probiotics extracted from real breast milk and prebiotic GOS from lactose to mimic the functional components of human milk more closely.
Most of their formulas are certified EU organic - HiPP products with organic certification take additional measures to maintain product purity, protect animal welfare, and promote environmental sustainability. These organic formulas have dual EU Organic and HiPP Organic certification. HiPP organic formula is proudly free from GMOs, refined sugars, artificial preservatives, pesticides, and hormones.
There are multiple country versions of formula - HiPP baby formulas come in different formulations tailored to specific countries, ensuring they meet regional regulations and cater to local consumer preferences. This variety provides parents with a range of options to help them find the best match for their babies.
They offer different carbohydrates for different feeding needs - Many HiPP infant formulas are based exclusively on lactose, certain infant and follow-on formulas may include small amounts of starch to promote greater satiation, and HiPP Comfort has a lactose-reduced recipe with starch and maltodextrin for sensitive babies. With multiple options for carbohydrate types, they cater to different dietary needs and preferences.
They craft formulas with Metafolin® - Some HiPP formulas contain Metafolin, which offers a closer resemblance to the folate found in human breast milk and thus tends to be more easily absorbed by babies than its synthetic counterpart, folic acid. As a form of vitamin B9, Metafolin supports cell growth, DNA synthesis, and neurodevelopment in infancy.
All of their formulas are soy-free - As some parents prefer to avoid this ingredient, they exclude soy from all of their formula recipes.
They make an effort to offer sustainable packaging - As a part of their commitment to sustainable production, the cardboard of HiPP formula boxes is FSC®-certified. Additionally, most packaging is printed with mineral oil-free printing ink.
They have many specialty formulas - Some babies are unable to tolerate conventional baby formulas and as such their pediatrician may recommend a special milk instead. They offer non-GMO Comfort, Anti-Reflux, and Hypoallergenic formulas to support sensitive babies.
HiPP has been a leader in organic farming for nearly seventy years. Recognizing the benefits of an organic diet for young children, such as reduced pesticide exposure and potentially more nutrient-rich milk, the majority of their formulas are certified organic by the EU.
What makes EU organic formula some of the best formula available is that it's free of GMOs, artificial colors and preservatives, aromas, and flavor enhancers. Moreover, you can trust that products bearing the EU organic logo contain at least 95% organic ingredients, with strict conditions governing the remaining 5% of non-organic ingredients, which in most cases are fortified vitamins, minerals, or essential fatty acids that are necessary for crafting a nutritionally complete formula.
Additionally, by introducing their very own HiPP organic seal to their organic products, they exceed some of the conventional EU organic standards as they voluntarily subject their products to stricter contaminant limits.
For example, the brand ensures their products are free from pesticide residues through highly efficient and technical quality checks. In fact, both HiPP and Holle formulas have even been recommended as top choices for baby formula by Consumer Reports due to their low/undetectable levels of several toxins, making them a safe option for little ones.
There are several distinct stages of HiPP formula designed for critical points in development. This approach reflects the evolving nutritional composition of breast milk, which adapts to meet a baby's needs across time.
For instance, quantities of certain vitamins and minerals become more or less important during certain periods of infancy and toddlerhood and are thus adjusted across stages to reflect this.
As such, they offer infant, follow-on, and toddler formula to support your child every step of the way throughout their first years of life. To discover which stage is right for your child, keep reading.
Infant formula is ideal for newborns, as it's specifically intended to be used from birth. As a complete source of nutrition, this stage can either be your baby's sole source of nourishment or it can be used in addition to breastfeeding. HiPP infant formula is available in two stages: Stage PRE and Stage 1. While both stages are very similar, we'll break down the differences next:
HiPP Stage PRE - The only carbohydrate in this formula stage is lactose, which is a natural milk sugar and the main carbohydrate in human milk! Since it's exclusively lactose-based, it can be gentler on sensitive tummies.
HiPP Stage 1 - Unlike Stage PRE, this step may include a small amount of mild starch as a complementary carbohydrate alongside the primary carbohydrate lactose. Starch helps to make the formula more creamy and filling, which may make it better suited to hungrier babies. Only HiPP German Stage 1 has starch; all other HiPP Stage 1 formulas are starch-free.
Follow-on formulas are designed to be part of a mixed diet that includes both milk feeds and solid foods; they can be used independently of breastfeeding, or as part of a combination feeding routine.
Compared to infant formula, follow-on milk typically contains higher levels of vitamin D and iron. HiPP follow-on formula may be labelled as Stage 2 or 3, depending on the product line. We will distinguish the differences next:
HiPP Stage 2 - This follow-on milk is suitable from 6+ months of age. HiPP Dutch, UK, and HiPP German Stage 2 No-Starch are all entirely lactose-based. In contrast, HiPP Goat and HiPP German Stage 2 also include starch.
HiPP Stage 3 - Stage 3 follow-on formula is suitable for older babies starting at 10+ months. This step is only available in the Dutch and German lines. HiPP Dutch Stage 3 offers exclusively lactose-based carbohydrates, while HiPP German Stage 3 includes more starch, which makes it slightly more filling and creamier than HiPP German Stage 2.
Toddler formula is an optional stage for little ones from 12+ months or 24+ months. At this stage, solid foods should be your child's primary source of nourishment, and toddler formula can simply serve as a supplement to their diet.
As an alternative to whole milk, it's formulated with extra vitamins and minerals like vitamins C and D and calcium that help to complement your toddler's diet and support their changing nutritional needs. While some families choose to use toddler formula, others may opt to skip it altogether.
It's also worth noting that all toddler milks from HiPP contain carbohydrates solely from lactose, which means there is no starch in any of the following formulas. Here we compare the various types of toddler milk available:
HiPP Stage 3 - The only Stage 3 toddler formula from HiPP belongs to their UK line, which is suitable from 12+ months. Moreover, this is the only toddler formula from the brand that holds EU organic certification and the HiPP Organic seal.
HiPP Stage 4 - You'll notice that HiPP Dutch is the only range offering a Stage 4 milk. This formula is intended for older toddlers from 24+ months. It is not organic but is non-GMO.
Kindermilch 1+ - As part of the HiPP German formula range, Stage 1+ is to be used from 12+ months of age. This formula does not hold organic status but remains free of GMOs.
Kindermilch 2+ - The final Stage in HiPP German is Stage 2+, it can be incorporated into your child's diet from 24 + months. While not organic, this milk is proudly free of GMOs.
You may notice that some specialty formulas are only available in a single stage, namely HiPP Comfort and Anti-Reflux, which are designed to be used from 0-12 months of age. Both formulas can be used as the sole source of nutrition for infants under 6 months of age, or as part of a varied weaning diet when introduced around 6 months.
Their wholesome recipes are based on more than 60 years of research and are designed to reflect many of the essential nutrients of breast milk. By using premium ingredients, they ensure that your little one receives everything necessary for healthy growth and development.
All HiPP formulas are based on skimmed milk, which is nutritionally balanced with a blend of vegetable oils to provide adequate levels of fatty acids. These formulas are then fortified with essential vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. Most of the formulas are further enhanced with prebiotics and probiotics, although this varies between specific products.
In the preceding section, we'll take a closer look at common HiPP ingredients and what they offer babies.
Common Ingredients:
Skimmed Milk: The milk used in their formula is sourced from humanely reared goats or cows that have access to graze on natural meadows where no chemicals are used and are fed natural grass, hay, and grains to enhance the nutrient content of their milk.
Vegetable Oils: They rely on a mixture of sustainably sourced palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil to supply your baby with important macronutrients like palmitic acid and other fatty acids present in human milk.
DHA: Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid present in all European formulas to support vision and cognitive development. They use DHA from fish oil.
Prebiotics: The prebiotics used in their formula are called galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), a special type of dietary fiber derived from lactose that provides energy and promotes the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria.
Probiotics: Many HiPP formulas contain L. fermentum lactic acid probiotics originally isolated from breast milk. These beneficial bacteria are among the main colonizers of the gut microbiome, supporting digestive health and immunity.
Lactose: This is a natural form of milk sugar and the main carbohydrate in human milk as well as HiPP. Its main role is to supply babies with energy, but it also supports gut health and calcium absorption.
Starch: This carbohydrate is sometimes included in their formulas to enhance the milk's texture, making it creamier, increasing its energy content, and promoting a feeling of fullness in babies.
Iron: This mineral plays a crucial role in your baby's development and is known to support immunity as well as brain, skeletal, and gastrointestinal health.
Vitamin B9: Depending on the formulation, they use Metafolin or folic acid as a form of vitamin B9. This nutrient is involved in DNA and amino acid synthesis and vitamin metabolism.
Vitamin C: This essential vitamin has antioxidant effects that support immune function and tissue health while also aiding the absorption of iron.
Vitamin D: Babies need this vitamin to develop strong teeth and bones and to support their immune system.
Calcium: Like vitamin D, calcium is also necessary for bone and teeth health, but it's also involved in cell signaling, hormone release, and muscle contraction.
Keep in mind that the exact ingredients vary between formulas. Visit our product pages for detailed ingredient information.
HiPP knows that every baby is unique and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to feeding. That's why they provide a wide range of formulas that vary by milk types, regional recipes, and developmental stages. They offer a Dutch version of their Bio Combiotik recipe that blends a skimmed cow's milk base with added prebiotics and probiotics for optimal gut health and immunity, and 100% lactose-based carbs across all stages for a gentle starch-free supply of energy that closely mirrors breast milk.
HiPP Dutch is made in Germany and packaged in the Netherlands in large 800g cans that provide added durability and ease of use compared to the boxes that other HiPP formulas are offered in. Stages 1 to 3 are certified EU organic, and Stage 4 is not organic but is free from GMOs.

HiPP German offers several different product lines, including HiPP Goat, Bio Combiotik, Ready-to-Feed, Hypoallergenic, Comfort, and Anti-Reflux. We'll explore each of these German recipes in more detail below.
HiPP goat milk formula can be a great alternative to traditional cow's milk-based baby formula. It's crafted with organic skimmed goat milk that naturally contains A2 milk proteins, which are known to be more easily tolerated by sensitive tummies. A2 goat milk is digested more quickly, easily, and completely. To add to the nurturing effect on babies' digestive systems, this formula is enriched with prebiotics.
HiPP German Goat Stage PRE (0 to 6 months)
HiPP German Goat Stage 2 (6+ months)
HiPP Bio Combiotik is a cow's milk formula enriched with prebiotics and probiotics for optimal gut health support. This unique combination of ingredients has been shown to be clinically beneficial for promoting healthy intestinal microbiota, which in turn strengthens immunity and reduces the risk of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections in babies.
If you're seeking a lactose-only formula from this range, Stage PRE, Stage 2 No-Starch, and all Kindermilch formulas are fully lactose-based. Alternatively, Stages 2 and 3 also contain starch.
While Stages PRE to 3 in this range are organic, Kindermilch 1+ and 2+ lack organic certification but are non-GMO. All Bio Combiotik German formulas are made and packaged in Germany in 600g boxes.

Ready-to-feed formulas offer all the goodness without the hassle of mixing, measuring, and mess! HiPP ready-to-feed bottles require zero preparation and are ready in just the twist of the cap. This convenient format is great for parents on the go, sleepy late-night feedings, or when access to safe water is a challenge.
HiPP Bio Combiotik ready-to-feed formulas share a similar composition to their powdered counterpart, with the exception of a few minor differences. Chiefly, ready-to-feed formula is made without probiotics, which are unable to survive the heat treatment that liquid formula undergoes.
Furthermore, these formulas include milk cream as the third ingredient, which, as a source of palmitic acid, eliminates the need for palm oil, ensuring that these liquid formulas are palm-free!
Finally, while the powdered version of HiPP German Bio Combiotik adds starch to some stages, all HiPP liquid formulas feature lactose as the sole carbohydrate source.

The HiPP UK formula range provides a selection of fully organic skimmed cow's milk formulas that feature lactose as the sole source of carbohydrates and are enriched with prebiotics but not probiotics. HiPP UK products are manufactured in Germany and packaged in the UK, with all labels and instructions in English for your convenience.

HiPP UK Stage 2 (6+ months)
HiPP UK Stage 3 (12+ months)
In addition to the conventional formulas mentioned above, they also offers a selection of special milk formulas for babies with unique dietary needs, including HiPP HA, Comfort, and Anti-Reflux, which are also offered in different country versions. Please note that these formulas should only be used with the guidance of your pediatrician.
HiPP HA is a hypoallergenic formula designed for babies with sensitivities to cow's milk proteins or with a family history of allergies. It's gently crafted with extensively hydrolyzed whey proteins from skimmed cow's milk, which are smaller than the proteins found in other milk formulas, thereby reducing the risk of an allergic reaction.
It also contains a combination of prebiotics and probiotics to balance the gut microbiome and strengthen your little one's immune system. Finally, all stages use lactose as the sole carbohydrate source to increase tolerability.
Despite its gentle formulation, HiPP hypoallergenic formula may not work for all babies with cow's milk protein allergies, and it's not suitable in cases of lactose intolerance.
HiPP HA formula is offered in both Dutch and German versions. While the recipes between the two are identical, the packaging and stages differ. The German version of HiPP HA comes in 600g boxes, while the Dutch version is available in larger 800g cans. Additionally, HiPP HA Stage PRE German is also offered in ready-to-feed bottles that share the same recipe as the powdered formula, except they do not contain probiotics. You'll also notice that the German line has one extra stage of infant formula, HiPP HA PRE, unlike the Dutch version, which begins with Stage 1.

HiPP Comfort formula is a cow's milk formula designed to help manage lactose-related 3-month colic, flatulence, and constipation using carefully selected ingredients that promote digestive harmony in infants.
This formula features extensively hydrolyzed whey proteins that are broken down to facilitate easier digestion. It also has reduced lactose content, with some lactose partially replaced by maltodextrin and starch to help soothe colic in babies who are sensitive to lactose. Additionally, its unique blend of beta-palmitate fat has a regulating and softening effect on babies' stools.
HiPP Comfort milk is available in both German and UK recipes. The main difference between the two is that the German version includes a combination of pre- and probiotics, while the UK version is enriched only with prebiotics.
HiPP Comfort German (0+ months)
HiPP Comfort UK (0+ months)
HiPP Anti-Reflux formula is designed to alleviate reflux and regurgitation in babies. It features a natural thickening agent derived from carob fruit, which gives the formula a dense consistency. This helps your baby retain milk in their stomach, potentially reducing instances of reflux and burping. Carob bean gum is not only a natural thickener but also a valuable dietary fiber with prebiotic effects, so your baby's stools may become softer when using this formula.
This AR formula is available in two versions: German and UK. The primary difference between the two is that the German version includes probiotics, while the UK version does not.
