Kendamil is a British baby formula brand committed to premium infant nutrition. Kendamil Goat's innovative recipe is designed to be the most advanced goat milk formula of its kind. In fact, it's the only one in the world that has both milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) and human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) to support brain and gut health, and has won two distinctive awards for its excellence!
Kendamil goat formulas shine thanks to their clean ingredients that showcase the naturally gentle properties of goat milk in a minimally processed recipe. With ingredients as delicate as your baby, Kendamil Goat provides wholesome nourishment right from the start!
We offer two versions of Kendamil goats milk formula: Kendamil Goat UK and Kendamil Goat Czech. Keep reading to learn about the benefits of both lines!
For the many parents seeking an alternative to standard cow's milk formulas, goat milk formulas are one of the most sought-after options. They deliver several digestive advantages, making them ideal for sensitive and developing tummies!
For starters, Kendamil goat milk has A2 casein milk proteins, the same proteins found in human milk. These proteins are known to be soft and small, making them easy for your little one to digest. Cow's milk, on the other hand, tends to have a higher proportion of A1 milk proteins, which are larger and firmer. Therefore, cow's milk can be more troublesome for certain sensitive stomachs. In contrast, the gentle effects of A2 proteins in goat milk can actually work to reduce common digestive issues like bloating and gas.
Beyond its delicate protein makeup, goat milk is also known to have very easily digestible fats. You see, whole goat milk naturally has higher amounts of short-chain fatty acids, which result in softer curds in the stomach. These tinier curds are linked to easy digestion when compared to fat derived solely from vegetable oils, which mainly contain harder-to-digest long-chain fatty acids.
But the benefits of goat milk don't just stop at digestion. Whole-fat goat milk is loaded with natural nutrients. It's a valuable source of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, and potassium. Because these nutrients are already provided through the milk itself, Kendamil goat milk needs less fortification and therefore less processing than cow's milk.
While it's clear that many babies with sensitive tummies thrive on Kendamil Goat milk formula, it is not suitable for infants suffering from cow's milk protein allergies or lactose intolerance. If your baby has either of these conditions, be sure to consult your pediatrician for feeding advice.
Kendamil's soaring popularity has led to a rapid brand expansion, and now they proudly offer their premium formulas in many countries and continents!
Here at Organic's Best, the original Kendamil Goat UK and the Czech versions are both available for your convenience. Both formulas share the same basic Kendamil Goat recipe, but there are a few minor differences to take note of, which we'll cover next.
Kendamil Goat UK is the original goat milk line that existed before expanding into markets outside the United Kingdom. Given its British roots, this formula is specifically made for families in the UK. The goat's milk used in this formula comes from farms in Europe and is manufactured at one of Kendamil's production facilities in Europe.
The labelling on the can is in English, and the preparation instructions provided are in metric units, i.e, grams. Kendamil Goat UK has three stages suitable from 0-6 months, 6-12 months, and 12+ months.
Kendamil Goat Czech caters to the Eastern European market. Like Kendamil UK, this version is produced in Europe and uses European goat milk. It's distributed to families in Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary by Kendamil's official partner, Health Academy s.r.o., a Czech company.
A notable difference is that despite the English labels on the front of the can, the back is labeled in each Eastern European country's spoken language. Still, the preparation instructions remain in metric units. We offer a single stage of Kendamil Goat infant powder formula in the Czech version from birth to 6 months.
Kendamil's goat milk recipe matters for what it includes and what it leaves out. You won't find palm oil, fish oil, soy, corn syrup, starch, or maltodextrin in the mix. Instead, the following ingredients make this formula a wholesome, nourishing choice for little ones:
Whole Goat Milk - Naturally rich in nutrients like brain-boosting milk fats and essential minerals, whole goat milk supports your baby's healthy growth and development. It also provides a rich, creamy taste that little ones love. Additionally, because whole goat's milk is a valuable source of palmitic acid, it eliminates the need for palm oil and lowers the amount of vegetable oils used.
Lactose - This easy-to-digest carbohydrate is a vital component of human milk and is the only carbohydrate in Kendamil's Goat formulas. It is a slow-release, simple carbohydrate that gives babies energy to grow. Lactose also has prebiotic effects in the small intestine, helping to promote regular bowel movements. Finally, it also facilitates the absorption of sodium, calcium, and water.
Whey - Like all milk, goat milk includes both casein and whey proteins, but it naturally has more casein than whey. To provide an optimal protein balance for infants, more goat whey is added to the formula. Whey is a gentle protein source that stays liquid in tummies, unlike casein, which forms hard clumps.
The whey to casein ratio of breast milk changes naturally throughout lactation. Therefore, Kendamil's formulas reflect these changes by rebalancing the whey to casein ratio of Kendamil Goat at each stage.
GOS - Galactooligosaccharides (GOS) are prebiotic fibers derived from lactose that support the growth of beneficial bacteria strains Acidophilus and Bifidum. These are some of the first forms of probiotics to populate the gut microbiome in infancy, and they're known to help protect against infections and immunity challenges.
MFGM - Milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) is a protective barrier around fat particles in milk made of proteins and lipids. It's a natural component of both human milk and Kendamil Goat. MFGM has been shown to offer cognitive, digestive, metabolic, immune, and gastrointestinal benefits.
HMOs - Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are another type of prebiotic that can be found in breast milk and the Kendamil Goat formula. HMOs are unique, long-chained carbohydrate compounds that support immunity and the growth of healthy gut bacteria.
DHA + ARA - These omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids are important in brain and eye development and are included in all stages of Kendamil Goat. In line with its vegetarian certification, Kendamil uses DHA sourced from algae oil as opposed to fish oil, which is typical in other brands. This is a more ecologically sustainable choice that also results in a milder-tasting formula powder.
Essential Vitamins and Minerals - All Kendamil formulas are nutritionally complete and include a mix of critical micronutrients, including all vitamins and minerals deemed necessary for your baby's well-being. Examples include iron, calcium, and vitamins C and D.
While it's worth noting that Kendamil Goat is not organic, it, like all of Kendamil's formulas, is non-GMO and meets Europe's strict standards for the quality of ingredients.
Did you know that as babies grow, they need more or less of certain vitamins and minerals? Kendamil is offered in age-specific stages that help babies thrive from the first days of life well into toddlerhood. Next, we will take an in-depth look at each stage to see how Kendamil optimally adapts its recipe for your baby's stage of development.
Kendamil Goat formula Stage 1 is an infant formula suitable for babies 0-6 months and is a complete source of nutrition that can replace or complement breastfeeding. This gentle recipe is crafted to mimic the composition and functions of breast milk and has a whey:casein ratio of 60:40.
Kendamil Goat Stage 1 UK and Kendamil Goat Czech Stage 1 are virtually identical recipes.
Kendamil Goat Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for babies 6-12 months, and it's designed to be fed alongside solid foods. Kendamil Goat follow-on milk supports a weaning diet, which means it's not suitable as your baby's only source of nutrition.
Compared with Stage 1, Kendamil Goat formula Stage 2 has more iron and minerals for older babies who weigh more and also have different nutritional needs than newborns. There is more lactose and less fat in Stage 2 than Stage 1.
The whey:casein ratio changes to 40:60, which reflects the same ratio as breast milk at this point in lactation.
Kendamil Goat Stage 3 is a toddler milk for little ones 12 months and up. This stage is optional and can be used as a strategy to achieve a well-balanced diet, as toddlers rely mainly on solid foods. A benefit of Kendamil toddler goat milk is that it's enriched with prebiotics that help to continue to build up your little one's immune system.
Stage 3 has more protein and contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals than Stages 1 and 2. The whey:casein ratio is 80:20, which is closer to straight whole milk as opposed to baby formula. This intentional choice helps to prepare toddlers for that transition away from formula.
We recommend that Stage 3 be cup-fed rather than bottle-fed to help your child develop fine motor skills and to promote self-feeding.
Every Kendamil Goat formula offers gentle nourishment, high-quality milk fats, and immune-supporting ingredients. Both Kendamil Czech and UK offer the same wholesome nourishment, but the UK version has more stage options.
We recommend seeking the advice of your pediatrician when choosing a baby formula before the next step of selecting the stage suitable for your baby's current age.
