  • Liquid Baby Formula: Ready to Feed

There's no need for messy measuring and mixing with premade infant formula; it's all done for you. These pre-mixed formulas are ready to nourish your baby at the moment of opening!

Kendamil and HiPP liquid formula bottles are popular alternatives to breast milk as their recipes are carefully crafted to mimic human milk, ensuring babies get the perfect balance of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients.

They have the added benefit of minimizing the time spent on preparation and eliminating the need for careful measurement and mixing of powder and water. We offer organic and non-GMO, hypoallergenic ready-to-feed formulas from these two brands, catering to a variety of feeding needs and ingredient preferences.

Ready to Feed vs Powder Formula

Ready to Feed vs Powder Formula

Families should consider what aligns best with their lifestyle when choosing between powder formula vs ready-to-feed bottles.

The main difference between the two is that liquid formula for babies is pre-mixed, giving you a break from the time-consuming task of preparation. Simply pour the pre-made baby formula into a sterilized bottle and feed. Some parents may also choose to warm ready-to-drink infant formula, but it is not necessary.

Powder formula, on the other hand, must be precisely measured and mixed with safe boiled water before feeding. This requires a little more effort and time, and can be messier. While powder formula is more cost-efficient, it lacks in the convenience department.

Ready-to-feed Formula Storage After Opening and Shelf Life

Shelf life refers to the period during which the formula remains safe to use before the container is opened. The shelf life of liquid formula is shorter than that of powder. To maintain freshness, RTF formula should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Regarding our brands, Kendamil liquid formula has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture, whereas HiPP ready-to-feed has a shelf life of approximately 3 months. If you would like to know the exact expiration date of the products we have in stock, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team.

How Long is Ready to Feed Formula Good for?

When ready-to-feed formula bottles are opened and your baby has started feeding, they must be used within 2 hours and discarded afterward, just like powder formula. If the formula is not used immediately after opening, it should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature below 5°C / 41°F and used within 24 hours.

At Organic's Best, we take pride in offering premium European brands. Our HiPP and Kendamil milks are among the best liquid baby formula options on the market. Parents can choose from our HiPP Bio Combiotic German formulas in Stages PRE, 1, and 2 or HiPP Hypoallergenic (HA) Stage PRE. Finally, we have the liquid version of Kendamil Classic formula in Stages 1 and 2.

Kendamil and Hipp Ready to Feed Formula Comparison

We'll walk you through the differences between these two formula brands next.

HiPP Ready to Feed: Organic Ready to Feed Formula

The HiPP ready-to-feed formula we offer belongs to their Bio Combiotic line of formulas produced for the German market. These organic, premade baby formula bottles are very similar to the powder equivalent, but there are a few minor differences to be aware of.

Notably, HiPP ready-to-drink formula does not contain probiotics, as these live microorganisms can't survive the heat treatment liquid formulas undergo. However, the recipe still offers prebiotics for added gut health support.

A unique benefit of the liquid version is that palm oil is absent from the ingredients list. This is because it contains dairy cream, which is a valuable source of palmitic acid, thereby replacing the need for palm oil. Finally, unlike some HiPP German formulas, which include complementary carbohydrates, no starch is added to the ready-made formula bottles. Instead, lactose is the only carbohydrate.

HiPP Ready-to-Feed Bio Combiotic German Comes in The Following Stages:

    • HiPP PRE Ready-to-Feed - This infant formula is suitable from birth and designed to be a complete source of nutrition. It can supplement breastfeeding or serve as a replacement for breast milk.

    • HiPP Ready-to-Feed Stage 1 - This ready-to-feed infant formula is suitable from birth as a complete source of nutrition for your baby. Stage 1 can be used to complement or substitute breastfeeding. This Stage has slightly higher energy levels than Stage PRE.

    • HiPP Ready-to-Feed Stage 2 - Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for babies 6+ months who are starting to eat solid foods. It is enhanced with more iron than Stage PRE/1 and can replace or supplement breastfeeding as part of a mixed diet.

Beyond these organic options, we also offer Stage PRE hypoallergenic formula, ready-to-feed, which is ideal for sensitive babies who require a low-allergen alternative. HA formula is not organic because it undergoes special processing methods that make it ineligible for organic certification. What distinguishes this HA recipe from the powder version is that the liquid infant formula does not contain probiotics, but it still uses prebiotics.

HiPP HA Ready-to-Feed Formula Stages Include:

    • HiPP HA PRE Ready-to-Feed - This hypoallergenic baby formula, ready-to-feed, is suitable from birth as a complete source of nutrition for newborns from 0-6 months. Stage PRE infant formula may replace or supplement breastfeeding as needed.

Kendamil Ready to Feed: Non-GMO RTF Formula

Kendamil ready-to-feed formula belongs to the brand's Classic formula range and comes in two Stages. Kendamil Classic is not certified organic, but the powder and ready-made baby formula are non-GMO and made with strictly controlled European ingredients. Kendamil liquid infant formula is also free of palm oil, fish oil, and unnecessary additives.

    Kendamil Formula Ready-to-Feed Stages Include:

    • Kendamil Ready-to-Feed Stage 1 - This newborn ready-to-feed formula can be used as a complete source of nutrition until 6 months of age. You may exclusively bottle-feed your baby with this milk or use it as a complement to breastfeeding.

    • Kendamil Ready-to-Feed Stage 2 - Stage 2 is a follow-on formula for babies 6+ months and is designed to be used alongside a diet that includes solid foods. This ready-to-feed European formula contains more iron than Stage 1.

Why Do Parents Love Ready to Drink Formula?

Ready-to-drink formula is loved by parents who want to give their little ones a nourishing, convenient meal that is also super quick and easy!

    General Questions on RTF Formula

Parents new to formula feeding may wonder what sets ready-made infant formula apart from standard powder options. Our quick Q&As explain the key differences between the two varieties.

Is Ready-to-Feed Formula Easier to Digest?

Parents seem split on whether powder vs liquid formula is more easily tolerated by babies. Both are safe feeding options that are generally well-digested, but each infant is different.

Is Liquid Formula Better than Powder?

Parents want to know: Is ready-to-feed formula better than powder? However, both come with pros and cons. For some families, the cost of liquid formula is worth the convenience, while others may prefer the greater cost savings of choosing a powder formula. Additionally, when traveling, it can be challenging to access safe boiling water to prepare powdered formula; in such cases, a liquid formula is a huge asset.

Is Ready to Feed Formula Thicker than Powder?

Yes, liquid formula tends to be slightly thicker due to the different processing methods used compared to powder milk. However, it's not as viscous a speciality thickened milk like HiPP AR because it does not contain any thickening agents.

Is Ready to Feed Formula Better for Reflux?

There isn’t much of a difference between ready-to-feed and powdered formula for reflux, and the best choice will depend on the underlying cause of the condition. If your baby’s reflux is due to a cow’s milk protein allergy, then a hypoallergenic formula is always the best option. However, if the reflux is more related to digestion or mild spit-up and your baby needs a thicker formula, then HiPP AR may be a good fit as it's thickened with locust bean gum.

Can You Warm/Freeze Ready to Feed Formula?

Often parents ask, can you warm up ready to feed formula? The answer is yes, but it's not necessary. If your baby prefers warm milk, place their bottle in a warm water bath or a bottle warmer and heat it to 98.6°F /37°C. Freezing any kind of formula is never safe because ingredients become compromised, nutritional values are altered, and the texture of the milk changes.

How to Use Ready to Feed Formula?

This type of formula is already mixed, meaning that it's ready to give to your baby upon opening. To prepare a feed, first start by washing your hands and sterilizing all feeding equipment. Then, check the closure of the ready-to-feed bottle to ensure it is in perfect condition before use.

Once checked, shake the still sealed bottle and pour the contents into your baby's bottle. You can warm it if that's your little one's preference, but remember to check the temperature before feeding; the milk should be 98.6°F / 37°C.
